Upholstery & reupholstery
Sagging seats, flattened cushions, torn fabric and cracked leather are signs your upholstery has worn out, not your furniture. We strip back to the frame, rebuild the support and fit new covers that look and feel right.
When to reupholster
Reupholstering a well-built sofa or chair usually costs less than buying a comparable new one, and you keep a frame you already know is solid.
01
Springs or webbing have stretched and the seat no longer supports you evenly.
02
Foam has broken down, leaving cushions thin, lumpy or permanently creased.
03
Fabric is thin, pilled, faded or torn, especially on arms and seat fronts.
04
Leather or rexine is peeling, cracked or stiff and cannot be revived by cleaning.
What is included
Simply stretching new fabric over old foam gives a disappointing result that sags again within months. Our reupholstery includes everything beneath the cover.
Fabric guide
The right fabric depends on who uses the furniture, how often and where it lives. We bring samples and help you choose.
Woven and textured fabrics are breathable, comfortable and available in endless colours. Look for tightly woven, high rub-count options for family sofas and dining chairs. Removable cushion covers make cleaning easier.
Best for: living room sofas, armchairs, headboards.
Velvet adds richness and depth of colour. Modern performance velvets are far more durable than older types and resist crushing and staining.
Best for: statement chairs, bedroom benches, formal seating.
Genuine leather is durable, ages beautifully and is easy to wipe clean. It needs occasional conditioning and should be kept away from direct sun and heat.
Best for: study chairs, recliners, executive seating.
Synthetic leather offers a leather look at lower cost and is very easy to clean. Choose a good-quality, breathable grade to avoid early cracking.
Best for: dining chairs, office seating, commercial spaces.
From tired to tailored
Before: torn seat, collapsed padding
Carved frame, new green cover
Deep-buttoned tufted finish
Stitching & detail
Straight seams, centred patterns, tight corners and even buttoning are what separate good upholstery from great upholstery. Cushions are filled to hold their shape, and piping is sewn by hand-guided machine for crisp lines.
Questions & answers
Straight answers to the questions people ask us most before booking. If yours is not here, call or message us and a technician will help.
For good-quality frames, usually yes, and you get custom fabric and new padding. For very low-cost furniture, replacement can sometimes make more sense, and we will say so.
Yes. We will tell you how many metres you need based on the piece, the pattern repeat and the cushion layout.
Most chairs take around a week and sofas one to two weeks, depending on frame repairs and fabric availability.
Small tears on seams can often be re-stitched. Tears in the middle of a panel usually need that panel replaced, which we can match closely if fabric is available.
We clean and condition leather as part of restoration work and can arrange deep cleaning for fabric pieces before or after repairs.
