Polishing that brings back depth, colour and shine
Scratches, water rings, heat marks and dull, sticky or patchy finishes are carefully removed and replaced with a finish suited to how the piece is used, from hand-rubbed French polish to tough PU lacquer.
Every wooden surface relies on its finish to keep out moisture, heat, stains and wear. When the finish breaks down, the timber underneath starts to dry, crack and discolour. Polishing restores that protective layer while bringing back the natural beauty of the grain.
Depending on condition, we either revive the existing finish with cleaning, cutting back and re-coating, or strip it completely and rebuild from bare wood.
Finishes we offer
Choose the finish that suits your life
French polish
Best for
Antiques, display pieces, fine veneers
Look
Deep, warm, glass-like
Shellac applied by hand in dozens of thin layers. Beautiful and repairable, but needs coasters and gentle care.
PU lacquer
Best for
Dining tables, desks, kitchen units
Look
Matte, satin or gloss
Polyurethane builds a hard, water- and heat-resistant film. Ideal for high-use surfaces in busy homes and offices.
Melamine / NC
Best for
Wardrobes, cabinets, beds
Look
Even satin sheen
A fast-curing lacquer for large furniture where an even, practical finish matters more than maximum durability.
Oil & wax
Best for
Rustic, solid wood, outdoor pieces
Look
Natural, low sheen
Penetrating oils feed the wood and are easy to refresh. Wax adds a soft hand-feel and gentle glow.
Duco / paint
Best for
Modern or colour-change projects
Look
Solid colour
Spray-applied primer and colour coats for a smooth, opaque finish in a shade you choose.
Our polishing process
Seven careful stages
Clean & degrease to remove wax, oil and grime
Strip or cut back the old finish
Repair dents, chips and open grain
Sand through progressively finer grits
Stain and tone to the agreed colour
Build the finish in thin, even coats
Cut, buff and cure before delivery
Aftercare
Keep your new finish looking its best
Use coasters
Hot and wet items are the main cause of rings and white marks on any finish.
Avoid direct sun
Strong sunlight fades colour and dries timber. Rotate items and use curtains where possible.
Dust gently
Use a soft, slightly damp microfibre cloth. Avoid silicone sprays that build up over time.
Allow full cure
New finishes keep hardening for up to two weeks. Go easy on heavy use during that time.
